Hey there LASR friends!
Your leadership team at LASR has been working to get this blog up and running again, and as a result are starting a show of the week column! Each week, we will choose a show that we think wonderfully exemplifies LASR Radio. Our first show of the week is…
SWING TIME with RORY and TOMMICK
Swing Time, hosted by Tomick and Rory, takes you through the great music from the swing era and of modern swing bands. We’re on the air every Tuesday from 2pm-3pm. Tune in to hear some classics of swing, and some new takes on original songs. About the hosts:
ABOUT THE HOSTS
Rory is a junior music major, studying flute performance and also pursing a minor in religious studies. Rory started playing the flute in the 3rd grade, when they needed more students for the band. When she isn’t living in the practice room, you can find Rory on the dance floor at lindy hop and balboa dances! She also dances on a chorus girl team. She started dancing a little bit before she came to PLU and will be spending the end of the month at a dance workshop in Canada.
Tomick is a freshman music education major. His goal is to eventually conduct a college ensemble. His main instrument is the string bass. As well as classical music, he is interested in playing jazz. Tomick started swing dancing at the age of 16 and he doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon. He’s also a DJ at local swing dances, so if you go out dancing you might see him up in the booth!
